Over the next couple of months, we will highlight girls and women who cycle in St Andrews. #AndSheCycles aims to address the barriers faced by teenage girls and women when cycling. The campaign is inclusive of trans and intersex women and girls, as well as non-binary and gender fluid people who are comfortable in a space that centres the experience of  women.

This month, we shine the spotlight on Freya, an inspiring cyclist who is only 8 years old.

We asked her a few questions and here are her answers:

1. What’s the best thing about cycling?

“I like cycling because it’s fun, gets me moving, and lets me spend time outside.”

2. Are there any particular things that enable/motivate you to cycle to work or classes?

“Long rides are my favourite. I once took a cycling holiday and loved every mile of the adventure.”

3. What’s on your mind when you are cycling?

“I like to think about fun things like holidays, and I pay attention to what’s around me when I ride my bike. When I cycled in Japan, I really enjoyed seeing so many things that were different from Scotland.”

We would love to feature you! If you’re interested, please email us.
