Coastal Plants & Seaweed Foraging

Join expert forager Tony Wilson for a coastal plant and seaweed foraging session down at East Sands beach on Sunday 13th September 10am – 11:30am.

Learn about the health benefits of seaweed and coastal plants, how to forage safely and responsibly, and what seaweed can tell us about our changing climate.

You will take a short, circular walk on and around East Sands looking at sustainable foraging. The walk also looks at the damage caused (both to the physical infrastructure of the beach and the flora/fauna) by recent surges in the tides caused, in part, by climate change-driven sea level rise.

We organise foraging sessions so people can get to know their local landscape and build stronger, more meaningful connections with the myriad other species that surround us. You will also, as with all our events, meet plenty of like-minded people.
