Lino Printing Skillshare – patch making
Mya is a third year student, with a huge passion for lino-printing, quirky designs and sustainability. She has her own Instagram page called shrimpyprints which you can check out here.
Mya is really excited to share their lino-printing skills, to teach others a really fun and accessible art form.
Lino-printing is fantastic for revamping ‘tired’ clothing, personalizing garments and covering up marks and stains. In this skillshare we will be working with cotton fabric patches to stamp your own creations on, to then make patches that can personalize your clothes or bags, or cover up tears or marks on jeans, jackets, dresses or tops.
In this skillshare, you will:
💚Have a go at carving your own stamp out of lino
💚Choose from a selection of beautiful stamps made by Mya, to use on your patches
Adults: £5, Child: £3 (we are paying Mya for her time to make stamps for this workshop). Card payments or cash taken at the event. Pre-booking essential.
Please note that all materials bought for this workshop have been source from two independently-owned companies – iartsupplies in Dundee and Cass Art (UK-wide).
What is ‘(Re)Made in St Andrews’?
‘(Re)Made in St Andrews’ is an initiative that promotes creativity, skills for life, mindfulness, community and environmentally-responsible slow fashion. As well as making ethical fashion accessible and affordable.
‘(Re)Made in St Andrews’ is exactly what it says on the tin: beautiful and unique, upcycled garments, made sustainably and locally in St Andrews, by YOU. It is an open source ‘brand’ that can be used by anyone who wants to get creative with their clothing and take a stand against fast fashion.
It is literally a stamp that you can print onto a garment, or can be printed on a patch and then stitched on. The stamp we have created will be available for anyone to use, if they would like to.
