Upcycling Skillshare: Furoshiki bags
Join us for a creative workshop to make Furoshiki – an old Japanese method of folding and knotting fabric – bags and cloth wrapping ‘paper’ from upcycled fabric. Originally ‘furoshiki’ bags were used to transport food and small goods, like today’s shopping bags.
We will be using repurposed fabrics from Reuse, like colourful and patterned bedlinen, t-shirts and curtains.
This is a drop-in session with limited places so please register below for this event. Recommended 8+(although children can only attend until 1900). No sewing skills required!
Our skillsharer is called Mira and she is a local visual artist based in Cupar. She makes mixed media paintings, but is ‘a curious spirit at heart’, so loves lots of different art and crafts. After a trip to Japan, she ‘fell in love with Japanese craft’. She recently discovered how to make folds in fabric (Furoshiki) and loves it because it is both functional and beautiful.
Check our her website and her Facebook and Instagram pages.
We are charging £5 for adults, £3 for a child as we are keen to support local artists and entrepreneurs.
