St AndRe-Use Big Give-Away
It’s that time of year again… Household items, kitchenware and stationery donated by previous students, all available for free! We’ve got thousands of coathangers, loads of cutlery, hundreds of mugs/plates/glasses, some musical instruments, sports equipment and oodles of plastic document wallets. In fact we’ve got over 1 tonne of free items up for grabs! Arrive early to avoid disappointment and don’t forget a bag!  (St AndRe-Use event)

Sow, Grow and Eat at the UCG Poster 2014Sow, Grow and Eat at the University Community Garden
Growing your own food is a skill for life. With the University now having 10 food growing spaces that are open to students, staff and local people it’s also a very popular part of life here. Find out more and get your hands dirty at this special session in the St Andrews University Community Garden where we will be harvesting crops and enjoying some food made from the garden’s produce. Wild Food Walk 
Fife is a hotbed of edible algae apparently, and this short introduction walk, led by local Foraging expert Tony Wilson, will give you a sample of some of the “free” food that grows on our doorstep including shellfish, seaweeds and coastal plants. Ends at the Albany Park Garden in time for the Pot Luck Lunch! (Edible Campus: Transition UStA event)

Conversing about Carbon over a Coffee (or Tea!)
Carbon Conversations is a free 6-session programme run in St Andrews which looks at individual carbon footprints and what can be done to reduce them, through interactive sessions which include games and group discussions as well as individual reflection. This taster session will introduce you to some of the activities so you can decide if it is for you, while enjoying tea, coffee, and a variety of biscuits. Saint Exchange Picnic
Saint Exchange is a student-led local currency / exchange scheme in St Andrews. We trade within the town using “Saints” rather than pounds. Come join us for a picnic and some acoustic music (hopefully in the sunshine) and if you bring food to share you can earn some saints. Find us on St Mary’s Quad Lawn

Freshers’ Week Green Drinks
This busy and popular monthly “green” social event returns to St Andrews. With no agenda except to bring people together who are interested in practical sustainability projects, this is where things get done and people link up. Headed up by Transition UStA, you will find out more about the opportunities for getting involved in projects ranging from energy, transport, the local economy and food, through individual events, volunteer opportunities, research, jobs and courses, all within a social, café style atmosphere.
