Transition UStA is once again teaming up with Cycling Scotland and Bright Green Business to offer a post of Campus Cycling Officer. The post is flexible and suited to recent graduates as a full time position or current students with flexible hours for the right candidate.

Salary is Living Wage  of £9.30 per hour

Placement: 34 Weeks

Under this role the Cycling Officer will support the development of a new cycling hub at the University of St Andrews.

The post will also

  1. Develop a student bike safety campaign, which will be delivered and displayed across Halls of Residences and the Student union.  This will promote, as a minimum, the use of lights, suitable security methods, general bike maintenance and on-road safety measures.  
  2. Establish a new network of student volunteer cycling representatives or Bike Buddies, within the Halls of residents that can support cyclists and cycling activities
  3. Support the training of volunteers to undertake Cycle Maintenance and Cycle Training  (including Velotech) and cycle training (Cycling Scotland Cycle trainer and CTA), Making Cycling Mainstream
  4. Help deliver Cycle training for E-Bikes, Cargo Bikes and Led Rides
  5. Undertake a review of the use and quality of the current cycle storage and the cycle changing facilities/showers/lockers across all university sites and residences
  6. With support of the Transition Manager, apply for capital funding, such as Cycling Scotland Development Fund and any other relevant funding opportunities, to address areas of under-development- as identified in action 6, above.
  7. Work with the Sustainable Travel Officer on developing and supporting a network of Active Travel Champions
  8. Be an ambassador for cycling and cycling related activities
