After several months establishing a tool base, which involved purchasing, coding, cataloguing, marking, securing, insurance and uploading to MyTurn, the tool library is now up and running! We are now looking for new members, so if you need to borrow a tool, first look and see what we have to offer and don’t go rushing out to buy the item. For only £15 a year (or what you can afford), you can borrow a range of hand tools, power tools, kitchen and garden appliances without outlaying much capital. So if you have just moved into digs and want to borrow a hammer or power drill, or if you would like to make some jam, we can help.
Your actions can also save a considerable amount of carbon; every little bit helps towards a greener economy and healthier planet.
You can sign up online (https://transitionusta.myturn.com/library/). Once you have paid your membership fee, you can view and reserve tools. Alternatively, you can come to the Kernel in the Botanical Gardens on a Tuesday between 10 and 12am, Wednesday between 12 and 2pm or on a Sunday between 12 and 2 pm and bring photographic ID (drivers licence, student ID) and proof of address (recent bill or council tax). You must be over 18 and there may be restrictions on certain items like axes and saws.

See you there!!
