The big Butterfly count is on and the meadow area in Guardbridge Community Garden is proving a good spotting location.
On Friday the 19th July, coinciding with the start of the Big Butterfly Count 2019 we were lucky enough to see lots of Ringlets, a male and female meadow Brown, a small tortoise shell, and lots of what were (probably) definitely large whites, but were too flighty for photos.
Join in the butterfly count which runs until the 11th August 2019 – all you need is 15 minutes and a place to observe butterflies and moths -more information here, including a chart to help you recognise UK butterflies and an app https://www.bigbutterflycount.org/
We meet every Friday 10-12 noon at the Guardbridge Community Garden to help maintain the different areas, including Meadow, native woodland and a mini food forest (more layers needed!). We also try and do a little wildlife spotting.
