Sustainable Transport Officer
Hi all, Heather here! I joined the Transition team in August 2022 as the final link in the Sustainable Transport chain. I am an advocate of active travel for the health of mind, body, and planet and is passionate about developing ways to engage with people on this topic.
Since graduating from the University of Edinburgh with an Ecology degree, I went on to work for Forest and Bird, the largest conservation NGO in New Zealand. My time on the land of the long white cloud, stimulated an interest in marine conservation – with a particular interest in marine mammals. After completing a PGdip in Marine Science, I followed my roots back to Scotland to follow a dream to work at the Sea Mammal Research Unit in St Andrews.
After a career break, to be a full-time parent, I have found myself back at work but with my interest shifted away from research to practical climate action and finding solutions that can engage a community. I want to see a world where we are all engaged with the issues and the solutions are not only helping our own health and wellbeing but also our communities.
In my spare time I like to clean beaches and take part in citizen science projects with my kids and their charity – Fife Sea Savers. Running in the mountains with my dog Jess is another big passion.
