Ecological Projects Manager
Johanna’s been on the Fife nature conservation scene since 2008 and thoroughly enjoys working with people to improve our local habitats for wildlife. She recently joined University of St Andrews’ Environment Team as Ecological Projects Manager on the Meadows in the Making project.
This exciting project will see the creation of 8ha of meadow in open spaces in and around St Andrews, as well as woodland and hedgerow, to develop rich spaces for people and wildlife to enjoy whilst managing land more sustainably.
She’s really looking forward to developing strong partnerships, supporting all of the enthusiasm to manage land more sustainably and help nature to flourish. A highlight will be engaging folk in the project by wielding butterfly nets and tree planting spades.
Johanna loves temperate woodlands in particular and started her career with Woodland Trust Scotland before working on the Fife Local Biodiversity Action Plan. She also worked with RSPB in the Cairngorms’ Abernethy Forest and spent two years on a red squirrel conservation programme in Fife.
