Transition is celebrating! We will be holding our AGM on the 8th of April and as part of that we want to celebrate with you all the fantastic things we have done over the last year. Come along to meet others involved in Transition, learn about all the different things that we do and have a good time. There will be delicious food and some of our home-made cider to try! Feel free to bring your favourite dish along for sharing but don’t worry about it if you don’t want to – there will be plenty.
The first part of the event will involve a (slightly) more formal part where a new Transition Steering Group for the coming year will be elected. The Steering Group, which includes staff, students and community members and generally meets once a month, coordinates all Transition activities in St Andrews. If you are interested in shaping the Transition movement in St Andrews, we would very much encourage you to consider joining!
Why should I join the steering group?
Joining the steering group is a great opportunity to have your say in developing the Transition movement here in St Andrews. As a member of the steering group you would have a part in creating and communicating the Transition vision for St Andrews, and in supporting and coordinating different projects that work towards it. In the past the steering group has successfully secured funding from the Climate Challenge Fund and the University for a wide range of projects. One of the steering group’s main responsibilities at the moment is therefore overseeing the implementation of the funding and the work of the paid staff in Transition. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain some hands-on experience in project management. You can work with other dedicated people that care about the same things as you and all the responsibilities are shared in the group. Next to the management of the existing projects there are also some exciting new ideas to follow like the setting up of a social enterprise for Transition.

Our constitution sets a limit to the number of steering group members. As long as this number is not exceeded every candidate can join the steering group. Only if there are more candidates members of the new steering group will be determined by voting.
Directions:
The event will be held in the Botanic Garden’s Glass Class. To get to the Botanic Garden follow Canongate up the hill from Largo Road. The entrance to the Botanic Garden is on your right after the first roundabout. Cross the Car Park, Enter the Botanic Garden through the main entrance and follow the path straight ahead until you reach the large greenhouses. The Glass Class is in one of the greenhouses and there will be signs to direct you.
