As a collective of Students, University Staff and local residents we undertake a range of practical projects within the Transition Town agenda. Our Legendary giveaway is back and bigger than ever thanks to the kindness of previous students. You can get, for FREE, all your household items, kitchenware and stationery goods at this event! We’ve got thousands of coathangers, loads of cutlery, hundreds of mugs/plates/glasses, some musical instruments, sports equipment and oodles of plastic document wallets. TUESDAY 8th SEPTEMBER
Lunch at the Botanics with Edible Campus, Saint Exchange and Carbon Conversations.
Come and join us for lunch at the Botanic Gardens, and get involved with our Saint Exchange and Carbon Conversations projects. Meet at the front gate at 12pm and we will make our way to either the Glass class or outdoor classroom depending on the weather. After a social lunch provided by Transition we will disuss Saint Exchange, Carbon Conversations and show you the edible campus greenhouse:

Conversing about Carbon over Lunch in the Botanics
Carbon Conversations is a free 6-session programme run in St Andrews which looks at individual carbon footprints and what can be done to reduce them, through interactive sessions which include games and group discussions as well as individual reflection. This taster session will introduce you to some of the activities so you can decide if it is for you, while enjoying tea, coffee, and a variety of biscuits. Edible Campus – Hot House Tomato Session

Sow, Grow and Eat at the University Community Garden
Growing your own food is a skill for life. With the University now having 10 food growing spaces that are open to students, staff and local people it’s also a very popular part of life here. Find out more and get your hands dirty at this special session in the St Andrews University Community Garden where we will be harvesting crops and enjoying some food made from the garden’s produce. Bike Loan pick-up – For those people who have pre-registered for a Bike Pool Bike loan they can pick up their bike from Gregory’s Sheds at their pre-arranged time from 10am to 12.30pm
Guided Bike Ride around town
Whether you cycle for recreation, commuting, shopping or health its far easier to move about st andrews efficiently and safely if your bike is in good condition and you are confident on the road. This led ride will give you a good workout whilst negotiating some of the sights and traffic routes of st andrews. We will also look at your bike and make sure you are all set up for a safe ride.

Freshers’ Week Green Drinks
Join us for this regular monthly social where anyone interested in Green issues can met and discuss their ideas and projects. Usually held in the St Andrews brewery on the second Thursday of every month we are moving to the Byre Theatre for this orientation week special. Wild Food Walk along the Edible East sands
Fife is a hotbed of edible algae apparently, and this short introduction walk, led by local Foraging expert Tony Wilson, will give you a sample of some of the “free” food that grows on our doorstep including shellfish, seaweeds and coastal plants.
