Sustainable Travel Officer
Hello, I am the Sustainable Transport Officer. I’ve re-joined the Transition Team following a two year break. I held the post from June 2018 to October 2019 when I was involved in the first Car Free Day. I loved this experience as it felt like change in the heart of St Andrews. The whole of Market street was closed to traffic and we had the Scottish stunt bike team performing, a skate ramp, soft play for kids and yoga for all plus a lot of space for people to walk and cycle. I then helped the Fife Farmers Market move into Market Street and hope to support them move to a better spot again soon. I was also involved in supporting staff who are re-locating to Eden Campus with sustainable transport options, helping train them in using E-bikes and recruiting for the Car Share Scheme.
In my absence I worked for a bike recycling organization and an innovative, award winning mental health charity, Fife Employment Access Trust (FEAT). I have always seen cycling and active travel, as well as shared travel as a great way to take care of your mental health and this gave me a deeper insight into how people with severe mental health problems can being in the outdoors. I have a background in journalism and freelance marketing as well as environmental campaigning and a passion for gardening, camping and hanging out by firepits in the woods while my kids run wild.
