River Guardians – Protecting our Local Rivers
On the last Sunday of the month, April – September, the River Guardians meet along the Lade Braes (opposite River Mill Cottage) to monitor water invertebrates in the Kinnessburn river.
A group of students, University staff and local community members were trained by BugLife Scotland in March 2023 and meet monthly (April – September) to collect samples that we input into a national database. This data is used to influence policy-makers. Citizen Science in Action! You can read more about the nationwide River Guardians project here.
Please join us to learn more about why this is so important, how we do it, and how you too can get trained up (for free – you’ll get a Certificate in Citizen Science). Get in touch for more info.
